• Jaw pain and headaches upon awakening are often signs of nighttime bruxism
• Other symptoms include sore teeth, cracked teeth, discomfort or tension in the jaw and difficulty in opening the mouth
• It can also lead to a condition called temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD), which is a painful condition marked by swelling in the jaw muscles and joints
