What are braces?

Braces are used to straighten misaligned teeth to give you the best smile possible.

What types of braces are there?

There are two common types:

Traditional metallic braces

• Made from high-grade stainless steel
• Have metal brackets that are linked to each other with a thin wire

Ceramic braces

• Made from ceramic — a clear, transparent material
• They are less obvious in appearance compared to the metallic braces

Will I still be able to brush or floss my teeth with braces?

Yes, you will. It may take some time to get used to brushing and flossing initially, but it will get easier over time. Do also remember to come by the dentist for your regular visits and have your teeth professionally cleaned.

How long do I have to wear them for?

This depends from person to person, but generally it takes about 1.5 to 2.5 years to complete the treatment. You will however be required to put on retainers after to help your newly aligned teeth retain its new position.
